Course Description

Swim (1.5 km)

Expect the water temperature to be about 60 degrees. The swim proceeds counter-clockwise, keep all bouys on your left hand side.

  • The swim is an open water start, just north of the finish line and expo area
  • Proceed west
  • Turn left at the far buoy and left again at the next one
  • Head straight to shore
  • Follow the short path to the transition area

Bike (24.8 miles)

Accelerade and water will be available at mile 17.

  • Exit Transition and proceed out of Lake Lopez park. (0.5 mi)
  • Continue on Lake Lopez Dr to Turn Around 1. (5.4 mi)
  • Aid Station 1 is located at the Turnaround.
  • Return on Lake Lopez Dr. and turn right on High Mountain Rd. (5.4 mi)
  • Proceed along High Mountain Rd. to Aid Station 2 (5.5 mi)
  • Continue along High Mountain Rd. to Turn Around 2 (0.5 mi)
  • Note: This half mile includes a steep climb ~400 vertical feet of climbing
  • Return along High Mountain Rd. (6.0 mi)
  • Turn Right on Lake Lopez Dr and proceed into the park. (0.5 mi)
  • Note: There are several speed bumps on the way in.
  • Turn Left into the dismount area for T2

Total elevation gain: 1,050 ft.

Run (6.2 miles)

The run is mostly paved, with slightly over a mile of dirt trails. Water and Accelerade will be available at miles .5, 1.3, 2.8, 4.4, and 5.2.

  • Exit transiton heading South-West on the path
  • Follow the marked course South, then along the road, and then back onto a dirt path
  • Continue on High Ridge Trail (.80mi)
  • Left on Upper Lopez Canyon Rd (.78mi)
  • Turn around on Upper Lopez Canyon Rd (.77mi)
  • Right High Ridge Trail (.77mi)
  • High Ridge Trail turns into Lopez Dr (.78mi)
  • Right on Marina Rd (1.23mi)
  • Right toward the Expo (.35mi)
  • Finish on the grassy area just north of the Expo
