One of the most rewarding experiences as the race organizers is hearing the feedback. For the past few years, the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. Below are a few of the reviews and testimonials that stood out the most. Some are personal emails that participants sent after the race; others are reviews found on active.com. We genuinely want to thank everyone who took the time to send us an email or write a review on active.

2011 Rave Reviews

This was my very first triathlon. I have been competitive my whole life and have never finished last in anything…well, at age 45 I finished last and yet it never felt so good! Thank you to all the young kids who stayed out on the course and waited for me to finish. Had I known this tri was mainly college kids n experienced tri athletes I might not have chosen this race as my first, but am so glad I did. Thank you again for a very memorable experience!

I came from Boston to race this, and I would do it again! Great job Frankie, Saskia, and the rest of the Cal Poly Tri Team!

I love this race… a great early season fitness test! big enough to be fun, small enough to be convenient/low key. As an age grouper I think it’s fun to be part of the collegiate racing scene. The lake is usually cold but it’s very clean. The bike course is really HARD but hey if you are doing WF in a month… it’s a good reality check. the CalPoly crew does a great job certainly comparable to professionally managed events. I’ve done this event now three times, will likely be back! Also enjoy having a weekend away in SLO/Pismo Beach.

I participated in My first triathlon (sprint) on Saturday, and I am so happy that I chose your venue. Your volunteers, the spectators, and My fellow triathletes provided an unforgettable lifelong memory. 10 months ago I weighed 299 lbs (6′), was type II diabetic, triglycerides in the 560′s, and unable to walk up 10 stairs without extreme difficulty. I lost 112 lbs in 24 weeks through proper eating habits, and exercise, and have been cross-training for the past 4 months. I calendered my first tri to be Treasure Island/SF for August (olympic), but decided it wise to do your sprint to get the feel of the game.

Once again, thank you so much for helping Me transition into a whole new, and wonderful world.

It was my first triathlon, so I was not accustomed at all to the whole process. The volunteers and race coordinators were awesome and showed me through the prep procedures and everything else. The course was super fun and the conditions were perfect! I come from a running background, but I can certainly say that triathlons are now my sport of choice thanks to this race!

Thank you so much for a very well run / managed race on a very good race course. This is my first time at your event and Lopez Lake, and I will be back. You and your team did an outstanding job!

First of all, I would like to thank you for an AMAZING race. I was telling people yesterday, and I sincerely believe, that your race is better than Wildflower. Your race has a perfect venue, great volunteers, a mustache contest, and a great attitude.

What a great job by the [Cal] Poly Tri Team! There were none of the typical complaints: there were plenty of restrooms and porta-potties, the racks were excellent, and the volunteers were very friendly and informative. The volunteers were especially careful with security at transition. The sprint course was tough but really fun. Events, volunteer or otherwise, don’t get much better than this.
